Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Police then found many other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials state initial examinations suggest the substance was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its source; authorities are presently not aware of any harm in connection with the event," they added.
City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the community for tips.
A senior official commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and had to be resolved quickly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
